We’re a group of colleagues of long-standing who’ve worked in research and the application of earth sciences over (almost) millennia. Having escaped the ‘publish or perish’ arena (some of us are now closer to the perishing side of the equation), we’ve become interested in publicising our observations and ideas in topical snippets rather than long-considered and peer-reviewed papers in the scientific literature. We collectively know a lot about rocks, landscapes and the environment. We’ve travelled widely to examine interesting sites, while collecting samples and talking to landowners and landusers about their patches of the earth to gain local knowledge. We also discuss much amongst ourselves in relation to this or that interpretation or hypothesis about the origin of things. In this blog we hope to share what we’ve been doing and maybe generate interest and additional ideas.
